FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a lentivirus (lentivirus means slow virus. Lente is Latin for slow) that affects cats all over the world. Approximately 2.5% to 4.4% of the cats in the world have contracted the virus.
From the 6th April 2016 all dogs must be microchipped. The government are hoping it will help cut the growing number of strays.
Over the weekend I went for a walk with a friend and their Beagle. While we were out we met another person who had a Beagle pup. She came up to us and asked “Does it get any better?”
Brachycephalic breeds (breeds with a shortened muzzle such as the pug, bulldog and French bulldog) have a compromised respiratory system; due to the shape of the skull and the excess soft tissue within the airway, called brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS). Lyme disease (borreliosis) can occur in dogs, cats and humans. It is very rare that it is found in cats so we will concentrate on the canine variety. It is spread by ticks and is caused by Borrellia burgdorferi , a type of bacteria called spirochete. It is one of the most common tick transmitted diseases but only causes symptoms in 5 – 10% of affected dogs as most are able to resist the bacteria.. The tick usually has to be attached to the dog for 2-3 days before infection will occur. It is therefore important that ticks are removed as soon as possible after they are noticed.

After watching it the dogs are the stars and I haven’t heard of most of the celebrities.
One of the conditions we see regularly is dogs suffering with grass seeds. These seeds can get into any crack or crevice and can make the area sore until they are removed. The most common places we find them are between the toes, in the nose, ears and behind eyelids.
